What dreams may come
This movie gorgeously brings to life the the painting Stephen Hannock as the stage for heaven for the husband who dies living behind a wife already in mourning the loss of two children. Not to mention the beautiful story of going through hell (literally) to save the person he loves.
Casino
Borderline tacky color scheme representative of the 60s and the lavish lifestyle of gangster ruling Las Vegas in its early days. The camera work in this film is very tight, following each characters every move and sometime emphasising their gestures.
Spring Breakers
Avant Garde style of this film reminds me of an art student film more than a commercial film. Its scenes cast in bright candy colors from glowing neon lights add to the surreal world of the four deviant protagonists.
Punch-Drunk Love
The overall dark look to this film is punctuated by rich, saturated colors. Bright jewel tones permeate costumes and set designs. I love the addition of the scene transitions of dancing colors fading into one another. They seemingly signifying the churning love developing between the two main characters.
The Master
The cinematography of Mihai Mălaimare Jr. for the this film, reminds of norman rockwell paintings with high contrast giving each image a hyper realism. Each scene is lit from a high angle that seems to bring out peachy pink and ocean blue hues in every scene.
